It’s not that I live in the past and haven’t grown beyond those days. I have a great life now and never want to take it for granted.
But that period in my life, when I was growing up in my hometown, serves as the foundation of who I am. Many of my songs reflect my friends and events from those earlier days.
I don’t know why those relationships remain so very special, but I believe it’s because we shared so many “first-time” events together -- first day of school, first dates, getting our driver's license, and so much more.
I guess it could also be because it was a different time, a Mayberry time, before people ever locked doors to their homes or cars and shut out the world. People spent more time together then, so it's only natural that we formed closer bonds.
That's why I don't think it gets any better than to sing to my long-time friends about the special memories we share.

I’m getting really excited about performing at my High School Class Reunion this weekend. I've even written a new song especially for the event.
